This is a series of photo pages I designed for an issue of the Kirksville Daily Express that focused on the City of Kirksville’s sesquicentennial. The photos are all KDE archive photos. Opposite each photo page was a full-page advertisement, so I didn’t get to work in spreads. Click each page to see it in greater detail.

St. Louis probably has as many versions of this cake as the number of bakeries that serve it. Legend says a German-American bakery in St. Louis invented it by mistake. Although St. Louisans love the cake, it hasn’t become well-known outside of the region. Watch two bakeries make their versions and explain why the cake is such a regional hit.
